Our TY blog challenge this week was to watch a video on our 'digital dossier' or digital footprint. I didn't know anything about this before I watched this video. As I watched the video I learned a lot more about how my time on social media will permanently be recorded and how I'm leaving a mark on the earth. Even before we are born we are written and talked about on social media making us a part of the social media circle before we can even talk.
Many of us have different digital footprints but everyone still has one. From the moment we are born we are recorded and our information is kept on file in the hospital. We all use similar social media websites such as facebook, twitter, instagram. These all affect our digital dossier and cause it to grow.
Some media websites I use that are part of my digital footprint are:
Facebook - for photos, my basic information and my interests.
Instagram - for pictures, what I am doing and my location
Tumblr - blog about interests and general information
Snapchat - for images
Youtube - shows what I am interested in and what I watch
Google - everything I search for online
Twitter - for information on what I'm thinking and doing.
Overall I learned about how everything we do in life is recorded and kept online which causes all of us to have a digital footprint which will always be there. As we grow our digital footprint will get larger as we join more websites and post more about ourselves online. We all have too much of a digital footprint to write down as mine has been going on for 15 years already!
